Microsoft Leak Suggests Taskbar Labels and Other Features Coming to Windows 11

Microsoft rebuilt the taskbar from the ground up in Windows 11. As a result, several features have been missing from the operating system, such as the ability to drag and drop files onto the taskbar, showing seconds in the system's date and time area, tray, and functions like icon separation.

Microsoft continues to prioritize user feedback, working hard to reintegrate popular features. Last year, Microsoft brought back "drag and drop" compatibility for the taskbar, allowing users to drag and drop files onto the taskbar as they would in Windows 10 and earlier versions.

As reported exclusively, Microsoft has been working on the "never combine" feature for the taskbar, which is expected to launch in the fall of 2023.

Microsoft is ready to reintroduce the functionality of showing labels on the taskbar and the ability to ungroup app icons on the taskbar in Windows 11, responding to user requests for these popular legacy features.
